Every so often a batch of rough comes into our Jaipur workshop that stops the cutting table conversation entirely. Cotton Candy turquoise is one of those stones. It is not found this way in nature — it is made this way, deliberately, by stabilizing and dyeing turquoise from the historic Kingman Mine in Arizona until it blooms into shades of pink, sky blue, and white, then binding the fractures with a web of copper matrix. The result looks exactly like its name: a swirl of spun sugar, caught mid-twist and set in stone.

We have now hand-cut and polished 100 individual Cotton Candy cabochons — hearts, pears, ovals, rounds, cushions, trillions, squares, rectangles, and even a trapezoid or two — each one a one-of-a-kind slice of this material. Here is everything to know about it.

What exactly is Cotton Candy turquoise?

Cotton Candy is a composite (mosaic) turquoise, built from genuine Kingman Mine turquoise — one of the oldest and most productive turquoise deposits in the American Southwest. The rough is naturally soft and fractured, so it's stabilized with resin for durability, then professionally dyed in pastel pink, sky blue, and left-white sections. The pieces are reassembled with copper powder along the seams, which is what gives every cabochon those signature metallic gold veins running through the color.

It belongs to the same family as our Dahlia series (Red Rose Dahlia, Peacock Dahlia, PIRD), but where Dahlia leans toward warm bronze, copper, and jewel tones, Cotton Candy is unapologetically pastel — built for anyone who wants their turquoise to look like dessert.

Why this series is different

• No two are alike. Because the color blocks are hand-assembled before cutting, every cabochon has its own map of pink, blue, and white — some are dominated by one color, others split evenly three ways.
• Shape variety. This is one of our widest shape ranges yet: hearts and trillions for statement pendants, ovals and pears for classic drops, squares and rectangles for structured settings, and cushions for something in between.
• Size range. From delicate 14mm accent stones up to bold 30mm+ statement hearts and ovals, so the series works for everything from stacking rings to focal pendants.
• Flat back, ready to set. Every piece is cut with a flat back, so they're bezel- and wire-wrap-ready straight out of the packet.

Caring for composite turquoise

Because Cotton Candy is a stabilized, dyed composite stone, a little extra care keeps the colors bright for years:

• Keep away from water, perfume, and household chemicals — they can dull the dye and resin over time.
• Clean gently with a soft, dry jewelry cloth only.
• Store away from direct sunlight when not worn, to help the pastel tones stay vivid.
